By creating easily accessible visual representations of data and building interactive models, engagement in infrastructure planning and disaster preparedness increases exponentially. This article presents the value of visualization and modeling tools to support and improve disaster preparedness. Some recent projects lead by the Office of Cyber and Infrastructure Analysis (OCIA) at the Department of Homeland Security to understand and find solutions to those cascading infrastructure issues are also presented.
